The first meeting of the Rappahannock Art League took place on May 25, 1949. The ten founding members gathered from Kilmarnock, Weems,
White Stone, Lancaster and Irvington.
They all shared a common vision

This spirit lives on.
Our robust schedule of classes has allowed us
to broaden our reach despite being limited to
ONE CLASSROOM.
Imagine what we could
do with more classrooms!
Plus a ceramics studio and community meeting space. We could expand our classroom offerings and target a wider audience, from children to seniors.
More meeting space would allow us to increase our art lectures, presentations and demonstrations—and offer local organizations meeting space– long revealed as a top priority for community artists.

A small sample of classes offered in 2025.
